Record your daily progress Start out by performing daily self evaluations and assigning a number (based on a scale from 0 to 10) to represent how you feel. Currently, myPTpal allows you to track your pain up to 3 times per day - morning, noon and evening (or any combination of these) - your weakness, flexibility, costs, PT and doctor visits. For example, you could enter the pain you experience in the morning and evening, and myPTpal will calculate your average daily pain. You may also track costs pertaining to appointments or medical equipment, and specific events. An event could be a physical activity or any trigger that is of importance to your condition and progress. You don't have to enter all of your data, but make sure you enter what you want to track. Data entry is quick and easy; it only takes a few seconds a day. View your progress chart A progress chart will be generated automatically based on the daily values you enter. This chart will not only help set baselines and identify trends but can also display specific events that cause improvement or worsen your condition. If your pain decreases after you begin a certain PT routine, for example, then clearly the new exercises are working for you. But in real life there are often multiple events and activities happening at the same time that make it difficult to figure out exactly what's helping and what may be hurting. myPTpal progress charts will help you see the important information and empower you to make the right decisions about your health. In the chart to your left, you can see that sneezing caused the pain level to increase. That event would be something to note and of importance to your doctor. Add personal exercises Your PT will probably give you lots of different exercises to practice throughout the week. He or she will provide these either as paper printouts or just verbally for you to remember. myPTpal allows you to search for the right exercises in our exercise library and add them to your personal library of exercises. No more photocopied, poor quality images and instructions on paper that are easily misplaced! Go electronic and go green! After selecting an exercise, you can personalize it and add instructions that were given to you by your PT. What if the exercise you need isn't in our library? Then simply submit the new exercise, and we will add it! Allow your Dr/PT to follow your progress Finally, make sure you and your PT or doctor are on the same page and have them follow your progress online. You can grant permission for your PT to view your chart and even modify and add exercises that are specifically for you! One size does not fit all, so be sure to taylor your exercise routine and incorporate feedback and suggestions from your PT throughout the recovery process. And feel free to invite other users - family, friends, the cool person you met at PT - to follow your progress and provide support. |
